10 Great Places to get Winter Comfort Food in Dublin

Is it just us, or is it getting colder? It certainly feels like it, and our instinct is to eat – so here’s some places dotted around Dublin where you can get some seriously yummy food that will help warm you up.

1. Fishbone

Located beside Clontarf’s wooden bridge, not only is this place gorgeous to sit in & look out at the sea, but it also serves a beautiful shellfish pot & seafood chowder which will warm the cockles of your heart. 2. The Porthouse

South William Street’s hideaway wine bar, with unbelievable tapas. The menu is huge, with loads to choose from including cured meats, paella, croquettes, grilled octopus and piri piri chicken wings..

3. Wagamama

Whether you’re a ramen fan, or a curry lover, Wagamama has something for everyone’s taste – even if you’re a picky eater. Katsu curry, teriyaki chicken soba and chilli beef ramen are always a good idea. They have three Dublin locations (including city centre), so take a peek at the full menu on their website.

4. The Fumbally

Who doesn’t love all-day breakfast? Fumbally Eggs are to-die-for. Not everything on the menu is hot, but they do great specials including chilli con carne and Mexican pozole. You can find them in Fumbally Lane near St Patricks Cathedral, and their specials & daily menu can be found online here.

5. The Market Bar

A low lit, highly social favourite of many. The Market Bar, Fade St, is one of those really safe bets in Dublin because of its superb tapas menu and really affordable prices. Patatas bravas & the gambas pil pil, please, with a trip to the cool cocktail bar upstairs – The Black Market.

6. Da Mimmo

If you’re looking for delicious wood fired pizza, try Da Mimmo in North Strand. Although they have 30 different kinds of pizza on the menu, they also do pasta, steak and many other things. Did we mention they deliver? Find them on their website and also on Just Eat.

7. Elephant & Castle

Spicy chicken wings – enough said. This place must be known for its chicken wings at this point, but they also have a selection of omelettes on their menu, which I think we can all agree is pure comfort food. Talk about yum. It’s a 30 second walk from the square in Temple Bar.

8. The Hairy Lemon

Sometimes we’re all in the mood for some serious Irish food, like our old pal Bangers & Mash. Well that’s exactly what you’ll get in The Hairy Lemon. From beef & Guinness to Dublin Coddle, you’ll get all the makings of an Irish dinner in here. And if you’re not into the traditional stuff, have a try of their Thai red curry or even a good burger.

9. Bunsen

Arguably the best burgers in Dublin. We’ve spent too many evenings tucking into a Bunsen after work, but sometimes its all that will satisfy. Bunsen’s famous straight-up menu includes an option of 2 burgers (plain & cheese) in 2 sizes, with 3 different sides of fries. Straightforward and delicious.

10. Metro Café

One of the cosiest cafés to sit by the window and people watch, this place does brunch until 5pm – and that includes buttermilk pancakes, breakfast butties and eggs on toast. Right on the corner of South William Street & Chatham Row, it’s handy to drop into while shopping and they have blankets if you fancy sitting outside. Check out their full menu here.
